  1. Open the Services application<\/strong> and look for SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS)<\/strong>.\n

  2. Stop<\/strong> the SQL Server (SQLExpress)<\/strong> service.<\/li>\n
  3. Right-click<\/strong> the SQL Server (SQLExpress)<\/strong> service and select Properties<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  4. At the Start parameters<\/strong> field type<\/strong> in -m<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  5. Click<\/strong> the Start <\/strong>button.<\/li>\n
  6. Close<\/strong> the Services application<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  7. Open<\/strong> a Command Prompt<\/strong> in elevated mode<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  8. Execute<\/strong> the following command:\n

    osql -S <LOCAL_PC_NAME>\\SQLEXPRESS -E<\/pre>\n
    Note: The <LOCAL_PC_NAME> must be changed appropriately.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  9. At the prompt generated by the previous command invoke the following commands in sequence:\n

    sp_password NULL,'<NEW_PASSWORD>','sa'<\/pre>\n
    Note: Change <NEW_PASSWORD> to your desired password.<\/em><\/p>\n
    go<\/pre>\n
    quit<\/pre>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  10. Close<\/strong> the\u00a0 elevated Command Prompt<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  11. Repeat<\/strong> steps 1<\/strong> to 6<\/strong>, but on step 4<\/strong> remove -m\u00a0 <\/strong>from the Start parameters field<\/strong>, if it exists.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
